Gay beach naked
Our preferred selection of the world's finest gay naturist beaches has been compiled, enabling you male exhibitionists to fully embrace your inherent inclinations, just as the Creator intended!
What more can be said? We truly appreciate a nude beach…particularly when it caters to a gay clientele…
Considering Stefan's upbringing in a frequently chilly and damp London, and Seby's in the French mountains, it's fair to assert that we were largely deprived of our rightful share of the Vitamin Sea. And, certainly, we unfailingly commend any location where shedding our attire is permissible…!
Throughout our journeys, numerous exceptional gay beaches across the globe have been visited by us, some of which are even well-known naturist spots. Scarcely anything offers more excitement and liberation than the opportunity to swim uninhibited in the ocean's embrace…then to sun-dry without a stitch of clothing, merely in your birth suit, exactly as Mother Nature decreed!
Presented here is our curated list of beloved gay nude beaches from various corners of the world. Simply ensure a generous application of sunscreen while immersing yourself in the nudist lifestyle…the absolute last thing you desire is to acquire a painful sunburn around your crown jewels (intimate areas)!

1. Balmins Beach in Sitges, Spain
Balmins stands as our premier choice among gay nude beaches. It is one of several such beaches located in Spain's town of Sitges, a place we consider among our most cherished gay destinations in Europe. Sitges is situated approximately twenty-seven miles (or forty-four kilometers) to the south of Barcelona. While multiple gay beaches exist here, the preeminent one for naturists is known as Balmins, positioned just outside the town's primary activity hub.
Playa de las Balmins lies immediately east of Sitges' central district, directly preceding Port D’Aiguadolç. Its rather isolated setting has fostered a flourishing environment for nudism. We particularly favor Balmins due to its distance from the bustling commotion of Sitges' nearby family-friendly beaches…you comprehend our meaning: on Balmins, not a single screaming child is discernible anywhere!
Another gay naturist beach to investigate in Sitges is “Playa del Muerto” (which literally translates to “Beach of the deceased”), yet it requires a significant fifty-minute walk from the main town; while it is certainly worth exploring, we ultimately selected the beach situated closer to the town – namely, the radiant, delightful, and daring Balmins!
Instructions for reaching Balmins Beach: From Barcelona, a forty-five-minute train journey will take you to Sitges. Upon disembarking at Sitges' train station, proceed southward through the old town's central area towards the coastline, and from that point, head eastward for approximately twenty minutes. You will pass the church (which is both unmistakable and highly photogenic), then traverse San Sebastian Beach – continue ascending the hill, across the cemetery, until you observe all the male naturists congregating by the shore…that spot is Las Balmins.
2. Cherry Grove and Fire Island Pines in New York, USA
Could this locale possibly achieve greater renown? We initially learned about the gay nude beaches of Fire Island following their inclusion in an episode of 5ex and the City.
Both The Grove and The Pines have cultivated an “anything goes” mentality, thereby allowing beach nudity to flourish freely. In actuality, it often boils down to who is sporting the skimpiest swimwear! The primary naturist spot is found on the untamed stretch of beach situated between The Grove and The Pines, separated by a substantial wooded area. As you enter the forest connecting these two communities, continue your progression towards the beach ahead, and there you will discover all the gay male naturists. The total walking distance from either the Grove or Pines ferry dock measures roughly half a mile.
Most individuals visit this destination as a day excursion, though the optimal experience involves an overnight stay: automobiles are prohibited on Fire Island, thus ensuring absolute tranquility and serenity during your visit.
Directions to Fire Island's gay nude beach: The most convenient method is to drive from New York, then park your vehicle upon arrival (and allocate funds for parking fees). Cars are not permitted to traverse the island. Alternatively, one may opt for a train and ferry combination. Consult the National Park Service website for the most current and comprehensive information.
3. Obelisk Beach in Sydney, Australia
Sydney boasts two principal nudist beaches: Lady Jane, located on the southern headland of Sydney Harbour (these headlands are colloquially termed The Heads, hehe!), and Obelisk Beach, situated on the middle head. Furthermore, Obelisk is an officially designated nude beach, so there's no need to feel apprehensive about potentially being reprimanded for being unclothed.
Obelisk Beach spans over a hundred meters and exhibits a much quieter ambiance than one might anticipate from a Sydney beach. With a narrow expanse of sand, dense bushland behind us, and breathtaking vistas of the harbor extending towards Hornby Lighthouse, we felt as though the entire world belonged exclusively to us.
Advocates for naturism spent several years contending for a private location where they could swim uninhibited, exactly as the Almighty Creator fashioned them! Ultimately, the Australian government acquiesced, officially designating both Obelisk and Lady Bay Beaches as nudist. Lady Bay is more accessible, which contributes to its greater popularity, consequently leading to more significant crowds. Obelisk, being more remote, is the preferred destination for those seeking enhanced privacy.
Accessing Obelisk Beach: Generally, Lady Bay attracts a more diverse/heterosexual demographic, whereas Obelisk sees a greater concentration of gay male naturists. The most effective ways to reach Obelisk involve either a boat or a land taxi, both of which are rather costly. The 244 bus (departing from Wynyard Station) is another option, but it operates only hourly, necessitating careful planning.
4. Sandy Bay Beach in Cape Town, South Africa
Sandy Bay Beach stands as South Africa's sole unofficial gay nude beach, yet it merits a visit. It is positioned between Cape Town and Cape Point (the Cape of Good Hope), just a short distance south of Llandudno town. Its extreme seclusion renders it an ideal location for relishing magnificent views while fully exposing oneself.
The glistening white sands paired with the deep blue hues of the Atlantic Ocean create an enchanting setting for enhancing one's tan. The water, however, can be quite cold, so any immersions are likely to be brief! Sandy Bay Beach also frequently experiences high swells, offering the potential to observe surfers mastering the waves.
It takes merely about a thirty-minute drive to the Sandy Bay Beach parking area from Cape Town, prompting our recommendation of it as an enjoyable day trip from the metropolis. Before your departure, be sure to also consult our comprehensive guide to the highlights of Cape Town specifically for gay travelers!
Directions to Sandy Bay Beach: Reaching Sandy Bay Beach is not straightforward, yet this very challenge contributes to its seclusion once you arrive. You will need to drive down to the Sandy Bay parking zone and subsequently follow the walking trail for a good fifteen minutes to arrive at the beach. The trek is not overly strenuous and affords pleasant vistas along the route. Be advised that the parking lot tends to fill rapidly (so arrive early), and no shops or restrooms are available on the beach itself, requiring you to bring all necessary provisions with you.
5. Brighton Naturist Beach in England, UK
What? An English destination featured on a compilation of beaches where one might desire to be unclothed?! This particular inclusion surprised even us! Nevertheless, due credit must be given – and Brighton's nude beach unequivocally deserves commendation. Despite often less-than-ideal weather conditions, the presence of a respectable gay naturist beach upon the Great British shores is rather remarkable!
However… you might find your ability to prance around this beach somewhat hindered due to the abundance of stones and pebbles, making it essential to remember your flip-flops or sandals. Furthermore, amenities here are limited, so ensure you make a stop at the local ASDA en route for any supplies you might need.
Regarding privacy, a shingle bank effectively conceals this beach from the railway. The demographic is highly varied: we observed numerous male naturists, student groups, gay individuals of all generations, magnificent lesbians, and several couples.
How to reach the Brighton Naturist Beach: It is situated east of the city center, proximate to the Marina and the Electric Railway station. Once you have located the McDonald's at the Marina, continue walking until you pass the Cineworld, then turn right by Pizza Hut and proceed through a tunnel into the car park until you reach a car wash. Eventually, you will arrive at a concrete walkway that runs behind the beach. Head towards the Electric Railway station, and the nude section of the beach lies just beyond it. Phew!
6. Cavallet Beach in Ibiza, Spain
While Ibiza may be widely recognized for its legendary parties, we also uncovered a wonderfully scenic aspect to it, particularly at Platja des Cavallet. This location serves as Ibiza's official nudist beach, enjoying particular popularity among gay individuals who appreciate observing all the sun-kissed physiques…
Cavallet Beach presents an exquisitely picturesque scene, offering vistas of both Ibiza Town and Formentera on a clear day. A few pleasant dining establishments can be found at the northern end of the beach, while the (distinctly gay) Chiringay Beach House, proudly displaying rainbow accents, is located at the southern end.
During our visit, which coincided with the peak summer period in July, the beach was densely populated with gay individuals of all ages hailing from across the globe. Additionally, this beach is where you will encounter club flyer distributors, circulating and offering discounts for the evening's major events. Despite the crowds, we appreciate that one can consistently discover a tranquil spot at the Cavallet gay nude beach.
Getting to Cavallet Beach: Cavallet Beach is accessible either by driving there (parking is available at the beach's northernmost point) or via a lengthy bus journey from Ibiza Town, followed by an additional twenty-minute walk through a forested area.
7. Bellevue Beach in Copenhagen, Denmark
Also known as Miramar, Bellevue Beach is a delightful clothing-optional beach located just outside Copenhagen. Given Denmark's standing as one of the most gay-friendly countries globally, it is unsurprising that it hosts one of the premier gay nudist beaches.
Throughout the beach, geometrically designed lifeguard towers are strategically placed. These blue posts, with their retro architectural style, constitute a signature feature of the beach. Should you feel inclined, participate in a game of polo – the beach is renowned for this sport! However, avoid becoming overly competitive, as Danes are generally more relaxed in their play, and would not appreciate an approach akin to Monica from ‘Friends'.
Once a favored European holiday destination in the 1930s, Bellevue Beach has undergone special enhancements over the years to evolve into the lavish and stunning location it is today. With a nearby cafe lounge area, feel free to grab a coffee or an ice cream between your refreshing dips in the water.
How to reach Bellevue Beach: It is situated approximately ten kilometers from Copenhagen's city center. Access is possible via a brief train ride to Klampenborg Station. Upon exiting the station, you will soon observe the water towards the east. The gay nude section is located at the northern extremity.

8. Mar Bella in Barcelona, Spain
This particular beach is truly unparalleled! Mar Bella functions as Barcelona's designated gay nudist beach and ranks among our foremost selections out of all the gay beaches in Barcelona.
Mar Bella is situated within a rather secluded zone, fostering a remarkably intimate and comfortable atmosphere even within a large, bustling city like Barcelona. It draws a diverse demographic spanning all ages, encompassing both local residents and international visitors. We observed individuals tossing beach balls, playing musical selections, and simply reclining beneath the sun. Regarding male naturists, there's a mix here of gentlemen showcasing their newest Aussiebum speedos versus chaps simply embracing their au naturel state.
We particularly appreciate the BeGay Beach Club and Bar here, where numerous rainbow flags wave prominently, making it a highly popular venue for refreshments or cocktails. Mar Bella beach also serves as the host for the monumental Circuit Festival every August, ensuring an abundance of parties, attractive gay men, and premier DJs as far as the eye can discern!
Accessing Mar Bella Beach: Take the metro to Poblenou; from there, it's merely a ten-minute stroll.
9. Elia Beach in Mykonos, Greece
Mykonos, among the exquisite Greek Islands, is undeniably the most gay-friendly, and Elia Beach stands as our preferred gay beach on this island! Moreover, it is one of Mykonos's largest beaches, providing ample area for renting sun loungers and enjoying waterside restaurants.
Elia Beach is positioned at the island's southern terminus, approximately six miles (or ten kilometers) distant from Mykonos Town. It features both a gay segment and a nudist segment… oh, absolutely!
The entirety of the beach is quite gay-oriented, yet the right-hand side (when facing the sea) is decidedly the most gay, with an abundance of rainbow flags indicating this. At this end, a rocky outcrop leads to another small beach where nude sunbathing is permitted. For additional information on how to fully enjoy this breathtaking island, consult our gay guide to Mykonos, and if you plan to explore more of the country, refer to our Greece gay travel guide.
How to get to Elia Beach: The simplest approach involves hopping into a rental car or buggy. Occasionally, scheduled boat services may transport you here during the peak summer period. Otherwise, bus travel is an option, but prepare for a long, winding journey.
10. Maspalomas in Gran Canaria, Spain
Gran Canaria, the largest of the magnificent Canary Islands, has evolved into a gay sanctuary over the years, boasting a formidable gay scene centered around the Yumbo Centre in Playa del Ingles. Slightly south of this area lies the gay nude beach of Maspalomas, near kiosk number seven, discreetly concealed by the island's renowned dunes.
The beach itself is expansive, stretching for approximately ten kilometers (6.2 miles), and comprises various zones where families or naturists can be found, with the gay community typically near kiosk seven. Other kiosks are available for purchasing snacks and beverages along the entire beach, alongside facilities such as showers and toilets.
The Yumbo Centre offers an excellent gay scene, and when combined with the otherworldly dunes (which are also superb for some gay cruising activities), plus a gay nude beach – well, it truly represents a gay paradise, particularly during Maspalomas Pride. Discover more details within our gay guide to Gran Canaria.
Directions to the Maspalomas gay beach: The most straightforward route to the gay nude section of the beach involves traversing the dunes situated in front of the Hotel Riu Palace Maspalomas. Initially, you must navigate your way through these dunes, which additionally serve as a popular cruising locale… We lost our way multiple times here, but if one of you possesses fundamental navigation abilities (which we lack!), or even has Google Maps readily available (which we didn't!) – then you will manage perfectly fine…! Otherwise, simply follow the procession of scantily clad gay men…
11. Abrico Beach near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
While Ipanema might serve as Rio's primary gay beach destination, where all the tanned, muscular, attractive Brazilian “Barbie Boys” congregate, just outside the city lies Praia do Abrico, a gay nude sanctuary. This location offers a far more relaxed atmosphere than Ipanema beach, entirely devoid of pretension, thus allowing you to disrobe, recline, and enjoy the beach as nature intended, completely free from any judgment!
In our estimation, this beach has undeniably captivated our attention! It is located approximately a one-and-a-half-hour drive from Copacabana on the eastern end of Grumari Beach, but the journey proves worthwhile. It is enveloped by breathtaking mountains, notably ‘the twin brothers', which are visible on the western side.
An abundance of games are perpetually underway – even if sporting activities aren't typically your preference, the crowds here are so welcoming and engaging that you will find yourself transforming into the next Sporty Spice within minutes! Attempt your hand at surfing; the waves here are truly divine, and the azure waters feel incredibly soothing beneath the scorching sun.
How to reach Abrico beach: The most effective way to get there is by taking an Uber, as it offers greater affordability and reliability compared to a taxi from Rio. Alternatively, you could board city bus S-20 to a stop situated about five kilometers from the beach, then complete the remainder of the journey on foot along a paved path or secure a taxi from that point.
12. Lokrum in Dubrovnik, Croatia
Accessible via a ferry service, Lokrum is an island positioned six hundred meters from Dubrovnik, Croatia. It is a land characterized by monasteries, botanical gardens, tranquil rural life…and a spectacular nude beach! The entire region is steeped in culture and historical significance. Maximilian, the former Austrian archduke, once spent a vacation here.
It is safe to say that going without clothing is permissible on the beaches anywhere along the island's coastline – most local residents visit there to bathe or simply to unwind. The gay section is situated on the eastern side. The bay offers excellent protection, allowing you to bask in the sunshine and relish the waters in peace.
While the atmosphere is generally open, be mindful that Croatia is not yet the most progressive nation globally. Displays of affection may be acceptable at Lokrum's gay beach, but exercise caution elsewhere in Croatia as homophobia regrettably persists throughout the country. Nonetheless, Croatia remains a cherished stopover among some of the finest gay nude cruises.
Accessing Lokrum beach: Ferries from Dubrovnik harbor to Lokrum Island depart every thirty minutes. Upon arrival at Lokrum, proceed left from your disembarkation point and look for signage directing you towards HKK Beach, which is the nude beach.
13. Mari Pintau on Sardinia Island, Italy
In what translates to ‘the painted sea', Mari Pintau beach unquestionably evokes the impression of a masterful artwork. It is situated midway between the picturesque town of Cagliari and Villasimius, adjacent to the Kala e Moru beach on Sardinia Island.
This beach is not composed of sand; rather, it is covered in small, rounded stones, so remember to bring flip-flops or sandals to prevent discomfort! With a nearby kiosk bar, you can procure delightful food and obtain useful suggestions on how best to maximize your time at the beach. We also particularly admire this beach because its southwest orientation ensures spectacular sunsets every evening.
Furthermore, you are permitted to go nude! Surrounded by the luxuriant Mediterranean shrubbery, we truly felt like a modern-day Adam and Steve parading through the Garden of Eden.
How to get to Mari Pintau beach: If you are exploring Sardinia by car, driving to Mari Pintau Beach would be straightforward, although parking is limited to the side of the road. Alternatively, bus line 101, which operates between Cagliari and San Vito, makes a stop in Geremeas, from which point it's a brief walk to the beach.
14. Chihuahua Beach in Uruguay
As one of South America's most gay-friendly nations, Uruguay was certain to feature a magnificent nudist beach nearby. Playa Chihuahua can be discovered just outside the vibrant gay party city of Punta del Este.
Play during daylight hours. Party throughout the night. Visiting this beach in the morning versus the evening is akin to observing two distinct realities. In the mornings, children can be seen frolicking in the sea, constructing sandcastles, while parents read beneath beach umbrellas. By nightfall, all the gay individuals emerge from the shadows for an unforgettable celebration!
Music. Dancing. Laughter. It resembles the club's enchantment being transported outdoors. So popular among younger demographics, it would not be entirely unusual to spot a celebrity or two amidst the festivities. And the fact that the beach is clothing-optional significantly enhances its appeal!
How to reach Chihuahua Beach: The simplest method to arrive at Chihuahua Beach from Punta del Este is by driving, if you possess a rental car, or by taking a taxi. For more insights into activities in Punta del Este, consult our Uruguay travel itinerary guide.
15. Beach 19 near Lisbon in Portugal
Officially designated as “Praia de Bela Vista”, it stands not only as one of Portugal's most renowned naturist beaches but also as one of its finest gay beaches. We particularly cherish it because all those attractive local Portuguese men in Lisbon gravitate here after their workdays or on weekends for some delightful beach-side merriment…
Beach 19 is situated at the southern extremity of Costa da Caparica. It benefits from substantial concealment provided by dunes and forests, precisely where much of the activity transpires. Playful escapades notwithstanding, it offers a superb location for good old-fashioned sunbathing in one's birthday suit. It should be noted that not everyone here is unclothed, and if you're not inclined to be, it's not an expectation. The core principle here is to experience absolute freedom without any pressure, which is precisely why we adore it.
The sole point we would emphasize is that the water here can become quite turbulent, so exercise caution! This, after all, is the Atlantic Ocean. For more practical advice concerning gay Lisbon, we have published an outstanding Lisbon LGBTQ gay travel guide specifically for first-time gay travelers.
Accessing Beach 19: The most convenient way to reach Beach 19 from Lisbon is via taxi. The cost averages around twenty to thirty Euros each way, and the journey takes approximately thirty minutes. While public transport used to be an option during summer months, this service has unfortunately been discontinued in the past two years or so. Currently, a taxi or Uber represents the optimal mode of transport.
