The premier gay bars in Melbourne

Since its establishment in two thousand and eleven, this Smith Street cocktail bar has evolved into Fitzroy's essential destination for cabaret, queer gatherings, and drag shows. Along with regular events, like 'Late Night Frockers' on Fridays and 'The Late Night Show' on Saturdays, there's invariably something novel to anticipate, so watch the website. If you're not interested in a performance, you can always make a reservation for booths, bar stools, and outside seating in the stable.

This community-operated establishment opened its doors in two thousand eighteen and is jointly owned by two hundred individuals who all contributed to get the revelry started. The consequence? An exceedingly friendly, cooperative, and vibrant bar that offers an incredible selection of entertainment for individuals from all walks of life. Stop by for drag bingo, dance extravaganzas, drag presentations, comedy showcases and more, and be sure to sample the cocktail bar for a fiery Margarita or a Pornstar Martini.

Beans Bar presents itself as Melbourne's initial dedicated lesbian, trans, non-binary, and neurodivergent-friendly bar. The venue was conceived to provide those who might find mainstream bars uncomfortable a place to call their own. Beans Bar has a consistent lineup of events, encompassing everything from comedy and spoken word to social gatherings and film screenings.

What makes beans neurodivergent-friendly? Every Sunday is 'Sensory Sunday', where noise and other stimuli are minimized. There are also bubble poppers and basic food to help people feel more at ease.

This Collingwood 'bear and leather' bar, which opened in nineteen eighty, has persisted as one of Australia's longest-running gay-owned and managed establishments. In nineteen ninety-eight, VCAT bestowed the Laird with 'male-only' status, but it occasionally opens its doors to the broader community for events. It operates seven evenings a week for same-sex attracted cisgender and transgender men, and it presents a diverse assortment of events, such as the Thursday 'Spit 'n' Polish' leather and fetish night, a Wednesday 'Trivial Hirstute' night and 'blokeoke' nights.

This pop dance club and gay bar hybrid is known for staying open until seven a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, thereby making it the ultimate club for post-party gatherings. Much like the Laird, the Peel is proudly a gay male venue, carefully designed for gay men. You may attend as a guest as long as you're respectful and considerate of your conduct during your visit.

The Prince is a hybrid of a pub, a modern day Frankenstein's monster. Within its premises reside a boutique hotel, an informal bar, a dining room restaurant, plus a substantial band space, and it is renowned as one of Melbourne's oldest gay-friendly pubs. The versatile venue is looking more stylish than ever after a recently completed multi-million dollar renovation. If you are not keen on sticky-floored bars that transform into clubs at night, then this relaxed establishment is perfect for you.

DT's has been Richmond's preeminent gay hotspot for numerous years, a relaxed affair where all the colours of the rainbow are welcome to relax and enjoy a beverage. Try your hand at karaoke on Thursdays or experience Rubi Taböö, Tequila Mockingbird and Esther Rix delivering three camp shows on Saturday nights. There's also an outstanding after work drinks deal Wednesdays to Fridays – get house wine and schooners for four dollars from four p.m., five dollars from five p.m., six dollars from six p.m., and seven dollars from seven p.m.

This Fitzroy bar has earned recognition for its broad assortment of weekly specials, offering inexpensive drinks, cuisine, and amusement from Wednesdays through Sundays. Savor inexpensive pints and RDTs while dancing the night away with award-winning DJs, and watch out for ticketed parties and events, frequently selling out. ADAM takes over Sircuit on Mondays, hosting a ticketed nude social night where men can comfortably have a drink and play pool in the buff.

Okay, so this is, technically, a gay pool and sauna center that also incorporates a bar, but if you're eager to pair your drink with a soak, head to Collingwood. Wet often hosts events like queer pool parties, nude nights, under thirty's nights, and even nights exclusively for bears, cubs, otters, pandas, and those who cherish them. Be sure to consume alcohol responsibly, as high temperatures, wet environments, and alcohol don't mix well.

Poof Doof undeniably overlaps with nightclub territory, so skip it if you're searching for something more serene and relaxed. However, if you enjoy your beverages synchronized with amplified tunes, then traverse the dimly lit doors and prepare to move to the music beneath the disco ball.
