GLADD
GLADD stands as the sole entity within the United Kingdom dedicated to uniting and championing LGBTQ+ physicians, dental practitioners, and students engaged in medical and dental studies from across the entire nation.
Our organization extends its membership to any medical or dental professional or student who aligns with and upholds the core principles and governing structure that GLADD espouses.
We orchestrate gatherings both in London and through our dispersed regional networks countrywide. Notable occasions include our Annual General Meeting dinner, festive celebrations for summer and New Year, participation in Pride events, and social engagements with complementary LGBTQ+ professional collectives.
At present, we have no forthcoming events scheduled.
Consider becoming a member or subscribe to our updates on Eventbrite to receive notifications concerning future happenings!
GLADD possesses a recognized national standing in advocacy and educational efforts pertaining to LGBTQ+ health, collaborating with prominent bodies such as the British Medical Association, the General Medical Council, various Royal Colleges, and governmental representatives in Parliament. We forge partnerships with academic institutions and the National Health Service (NHS) to advance research into LGBTQ+ health challenges and deliver specialized training designed to empower individuals within the healthcare sector, whether studying or practicing, to confront discrimination and effectively support their LGBTQ+ colleagues and the patients they serve.
You are able to stay informed about GLADD's activities by following us on X (previously known as Twitter), Instagram, and LinkedIn. Should you wish to contribute to our ongoing initiatives or have an idea regarding how we might assist your professional endeavors, please do not hesitate to reach out. Whether your interest lies in facilitating LGBTQ+ educational sessions at a local level, spearheading a research project, or identifying an avenue for enhancing LGBTQ+ health and healthcare provisions, we would be delighted to hear your thoughts.
GLADD members can now enhance their visibility more than ever before through our newly introduced branded rainbow lanyards and badges, serving to represent GLADD and promote rainbow symbolism wherever you may be.
Students constitute a substantial segment of our GLADD membership, and opportunities are available throughout the year for you to engage with our work and community.
Discover more about our student award and our mentorship program, both of which are open to all participants.
Our dedicated support sections offer general insights, a collection of useful resources, and informative articles, alongside specific guidance on LGBTQ+ Health, Bisexual Health, Transgender Health, and support within religious contexts.
You have the option to contact GLADD using the form provided below, and one of our committee members will respond to your inquiry as promptly as their schedule permits.
The committee members are comprised of individuals who are both working professionals and full-time students; therefore, kindly allow a minimum of five business days for your query to receive a comprehensive response. We adhere to the established principles of confidentiality for all communications directed to us.
Please be advised that GLADD is not in a position to offer medical or dental counsel, nor can we endorse specific LGBTQ+ healthcare providers. For LGBTQ+ patients, the GMC's Guide for LGBT Patients might prove beneficial. Your primary care physician or dentist typically serves as the most appropriate initial point of contact for health-related advice.
