However, with the employment of perilous dark magic, Marcille can access the afterlife and retrieve her friend back from oblivion. Considering that there is no necromancer to be found, and returning bones to the earth's surface is not possible, dark magic combined with using deceased dragon flesh for piecing together Falin's body constitutes her sole solution.

But in spite of all difficulties, it is effective, with Marcille leaping into Falin's embrace the instant she is revived. With tears brimming in her eyes, she calls out with relief. It's a delightful moment, as both girls convey feelings they've been suppressing for quite some time. Afterward, they retreat to the baths to cleanse their injuries and analyze the circumstance.

The bath scene constitutes a frequent incident in anime and manga, usually used in order to group all the female characters together in a steamy space filled with appropriate angles intended for showcasing boobs and butts. It has remained a fundamental aspect for many decades, thus when Dungeon Meshi features a pair of its most cherished characters in a single room, your typical individual could be excused for anticipating that the same thing would occur in this situation. However, it does not, alternatively challenging our anticipations by setting a deliberate emphasis on the spoken words and body gestures of Marcille and Falin while they celebrate an opportunity to spend more of their lives alongside one another, relieved they have both made it through.

It commences with Marcille cleaning Falin's body, almost in the same way that she is attempting to ensure nothing is not in place after getting revived from practically nothing but a collection of bones. This is easy to understand, though it swiftly causes Falin to become embarrassed while she gently pushes Marcille to the side, afraid of the intimacy implied by performing such a deed.

Falin feels considerably more powerful than before, as though she is having a new outlook on life or even a supply of potential building up within herself. Although, to alleviate her partner's fears, she allows this potential to gradually disappear.

While there happen to be naked figures being displayed from every angle when the two girls are chatting, none of it feels indecent or arousing, but instead in service of their separate storylines. There is a brief moment of quietness once we are directed to a large scene, featuring the girls sitting on opposing ends of the tub at the time Falin starts to recognize that not merely had she died, but that a sacrifice must be made to recover her, a sacrifice that Marcille could very well have to live with for the remainder of her days.

That's quite a burden to carry, though one that is worthwhile. I brought up earlier that Dungeon Meshi will at some point cover considerably darker themes and concepts, and tampering with the fabric pertaining to life and death is simply a harbinger for such a development. Whatever the case, the bond associated with love relating to these two is clear and obvious.

Several scenes have been taken out of the anime already, which in turn resulted in a lot of people fearing that this heartfelt conversation would likewise be on the chopping block. Perhaps it wouldn't dedicate itself to a queer relationship such as this without any compromises, or it would be removed altogether in exchange for a different, considerably more heteronormative arc instead.

Thankfully it hasn't happened, since I cannot wait to discover exactly where this is headed.
