Positions for gay
Ever been chatting about sexual encounters with companions, and suddenly, someone casually mentions a bizarre position as their preferred one?
Like, the pinball wizard, the snow angel, the butter churner, the pretzel dip, or the magic mountain. And you're just like, what the actual fuck???
It happened recently on Love Island UK, where contestant Luca inquired of another islander, Paige, about her favorite position, and she responded with "broken eagle," which left everyone very confused.
"It's like, when the girl is lying on the bottom, face down, you know how girls sleep partially bent, the other half straight, the guy doing his thing."
This article includes content that is inaccessible.
If you're just starting to have sexual relations, or perhaps you've been utilizing the same two maneuvers your entire life, it can be extremely overwhelming. You may be contemplating, 'Am I engaging in mundane sex? Is everyone else performing wild and unusual acts? What are the best and most popular sexual positions, really?'
Well, we've got you covered!
The most favored sexual positions
In the realm of sexual positions, many articles and books are extensively centered around penis-into-vagina, but here at The Hook Up, we champion inclusivity, so whether you're gay, straight, or bi, here are the top ten sexual positions and how to execute them - for everyone.
1. Doggy Style
Woof.
On our Instagram @triplejthehookup, this position triumphed! Thirty-five percent of you voted for doggy style as your favorite position.
You shared that doggy style was a favorite for profound penetration and pleasure, and sex therapist Christopher Brett-Renes mentions doggy style as a go-to for gay individuals.
"The bottom is typically on all fours, or they can have their head down with their rear up, with the top either on their knees or standing, with the bottom on the bed's edge."
If we're discussing two individuals with vulvas, you can definitely still enjoy doggy style with a strap-on. Or simply grind and rub against each other, inserting fingers or massaging your partner's clit or nipples.
Sexologist Lauren French states that to attain deeper penetration, you could lower your arms, resting on your forearms, positioning your face downward more.
"I believe that's a superior angle compared to hands and knees, and maybe propped up with a pillow you're likely looking at your deepest penetration."
2. Missionary
That's correct, there's nothing vanilla about missionary. It's your second favorite position!
Lauren mentions that despite missionary receiving a bit of a bad reputation, it's an excellent position for intimacy. You know, all that eye contact, close face kind of stuff.
"Also, you can change the depth with missionary by just placing some pillows under whoever's on the bottom, really elevating it, which can really drastically alter the penetration level."
Chris says it can be a bit difficult for two individuals with penises if flexibility is lacking.
"The bottom (receptive partner) lays on their back, but because of the anus's location, often their legs must be elevated for the top (inserting partner) to penetrate them."
For vulva-on-vulva activity, again, you can utilize a strap-on, or even just your fingers!
3. Cowgirl/Cowboy/Cowthey ;)
Yee haw!
Another classic, Chris explains cowboy is when the bottom is straddling the top, who is supine on the bed (or floor, or anywhere), facing the top.
"What's wonderful about cowboy is that the bottom gains control over speed and depth of penetration."
Operates the exact same way for cowgirl - if we're referring to a male and female pair. If you're lying on the bottom, you can play with your partner's breasts/nipples.
And Lauren reveals that to add spice, you can do:
4. Reverse Cowgirl
"So you've got the lovely lady facing backward, directed towards the feet. It presents a great butt shot, and you can be on your feet or knees."
5. Spooning
A stunning lazy morning, half-asleep vibe! And can also be highly intimate.
"So obviously, you have both individuals resting on their sides, one behind. I believe a lot of spooning often occurs either in the bent-leg position or with one leg slightly elevated for the person in front to allow a bit of access," says Lauren.
It can be a fantastic position for two individuals with vulvas as well, whether the large spoon merely uses their fingers to play with the little spoon's clit and/or breasts, or if they incorporate a strap-on.
"I adore these positions because they grant easy access to the clit. It increases the probability of orgasming, which is wonderful."
Chris states that it's an exceedingly intimate position for two individuals with penises too.
"This can be a very intimate position with the little spoon (bottom) resting in front of the big spoon (top) and being penetrated from behind. This position encourages kissing and physical contact between each other&x27;s bodies."
6. 69
A true queer favorite!
Although 69 has a somewhat old-school image, it's undoubtedly a position frequently utilized for same-sex partners.
If you're unaware, "we're discussing mutual oral sex simultaneously. So, going down on each other, generating that six-nine shape."
Lauren also notes that height can sometimes pose a challenge for some pairs.
"If you have an extremely tall partner or a very short one, 69 can become very problematic."
Sex Therapist Naomi Hutchings explains that for queer women, laying 69 is very commonplace.
"You're lying there between the legs. It's just gentler. And sometimes individuals have tender body parts, or they're fatigued, making it more comfortable."
Chris also agrees to try to figure out which 69 works for you.
"For some, laying on their sides and doing it is best, especially if your sexual partner is well-endowed, while others discover that one partner lying on the bed and the other on top can work, however, for the one on the bottom it can be challenging."
7. Scissoring
Frequently joked about concerning lesbian sex, but Naomi asserts that scissoring "isn't necessarily the go-to, but it absolutely occurs."
If you're not familiar, have your partner recline on their side, and then straddle their legs. You aim to have both of your clitorises rubbing against each other.
"I saw this humorous meme about it and almost pulling your back out, and people giggle about it. I'm queer, we all discuss it, but yeah, many people absolutely love it because it involves rubbing.
And for many, rubbing provides a pleasant way to experience sexual pleasure and orgasm."
8. Prone Boning
An underrated favorite!
Super simple, Chris says that for gay men, "the bottom lies flat while the top penetrates from behind, resting upon them."
For male-female action, prone boning can intensify sensations.
"Legs together can amplify sensations, but it also restricts movement ability," states Lauren.
"Like, do you move your head? How do you breathe? I'm just picturing a head in a pillow, while you're just getting ploughed."
9. Oral
Oral is mwa chef&x27;s kiss, and some would declare it an essential component of foreplay and/or sex.
If you're intimately involved with someone with a vulva, whether they're sitting on your face or you're performing oral on them, oral can be crucial in helping them reach orgasm.
"There are, of course, other ways as well, but we recognize that mouth-on-the-vulva tends to be the one that most often leads people to orgasm, as well as employing fingers or rubbing around the vulva," says Naomi.
And Chris notes that many men prefer oral sex to anal sex.
"Oral sex is when a sexual partner sucks (DOES NOT BLOW) on the recipient's penis. Numerous men prefer oral over anal sex, while for others, oral can be a real turn-off - so I would encourage you to communicate with your sexual partners regarding your likes and dislikes."
10. Mutual Maz
If you're not especially in the mood for contortions and sexual relations, Lauren indicates that masturbating simultaneously while watching each other can be exhilarating.
"Like witnessing your partner experience an orgasm while you're experiencing one, that sounds like a fantastically thrilling experience to me."
Provide something a bit more exhilarating
If all of these positions are on your regular rotation and you're eager to try something fresh or add some spice, Lauren suggests altering the location. You could opt for shower sex, car sex, or even on the kitchen counter. Incorporating a toy could be an option. However, she also emphasizes not getting carried away.
"Don't attempt to introduce four new elements simultaneously. Numerous individuals say, 'I want to spice things up. So I'll get a toy. We&x27;ll try a new position, it&x27;ll be in the shower, and it'll be during the day.'
And I'm like, well, that's just a surefire recipe for falling and twisting an ankle.
So, select one fun new thing you'd like to attempt. Inform your partner in advance before you embark on it so they have time to prepare, and then sort of plan it out from there. But do not attempt to reinvent the entire wheel. Just integrate something new."
