Was T. E. Lawrence Homosexual?

Was T. E. Lawrence (of Arabia) a homosexual?

Kel_Varnsen_Latex_Division1

Is there any concrete proof demonstrating T.E. Lawerence's homosexuality? Did he ever profess to be gay? Or did people just surmise he had to be?

This piece encourages one to consider that Lawrence simply wasn't interested in the entire concept of sex.

He was subjected to torture and sexual assault by Ottoman Turks in nineteen sixteen (one knows the sequence with Jose Ferrer …)

I'd heard that he was merely Asexual.

That (asexuality) was also the conclusion Richard Schenkman reached in his 'Legends, Lies, and Cherished Myths of World History.'

Well, his intimacy with young Arab males is what initiated that entire 'gay' speculation. Alas, I have no citation.

I perused a comprehensive biography on him once that incorporated extracts from his personal journal. Seemingly, he had a phobia of physical contact - the very thought of a handshake even disgusted him. There are individuals existing who suffer from this particular malady. I'm uncertain what it's termed, though. So if this held veracity, he might not have been attracted to ANYone…perhaps we'll never know…

Intriguing write-up (with unpleasant echoes of what's transpiring presently, provided the whispers concerning what's in the video Rummy mentioned are accurate)

My father encountered Lawrence briefly when he was reassigned to the RAF as an aircraftman (not known as Lawrence, by the way); they shared a passion for motorcycles but seemingly disagreed on females. Evidently, there was only a solitary woman Lawrence would permit to ride with him on his bike because she was the only one who didn't necessitate holding him firmly around the waist.
I cannot recall Dad's perspective on Lawrence's actual gayness (gaiety?) clearly; I think it was that he was asexual - terrified of getting too close to anyone, whether male or female. Nevertheless, I do remember him employing the expression 'Barking mad!' concerning him.

I'll have to inquire of Dad a bit more meticulously when we converse again.

Well, his sleeping with young Arab boys is what gave rise to that whole 'gay' rumor. No, I have no cite.

I suspect you're pondering the movie!
(Lawrence didn't bear a strong resemblance to O'Toole, according to Dad)
